...a note from Mrs. Imber

We know that planning is important for accomplishing anything in life.
To that end, the state of Rhode Island has decided that students will
learn to set goals for themselves, as well as to learn how to achieve
the goals, and evaluate how well they are doing. You may have read
about the Individual Learning Plan (ILP). Here in Warwick we have
instituted the I WILL PLAN, which stands for I (Warwick Schools
Individual Lifelong Learning) Plan. I taught each of the students on
our team to complete their first I WILL PLAN for fourth quarter.
They needed to set realistic goals for themselves in the following
areas:
Academic – Attendance and Promptness;
Educational – Goals and Strategies for Achieving These Goals;
Post-Secondary Goals and Job Readiness;
Personal – Health and Well-Being and Activities.
For each goal your child considered action steps and potential
obstacles. Before the quarter ends, the students will reflect upon
their progress and revise goals if necessary. These I WILL PLANS
will follow the students to high school. There they will continue to
plan at least quarterly in their Advisory groups. At some point, it is
hoped that these plans will be kept electronically.
